My
Name,
My
Story
My
name
is
Emily,
and
I
love
my
name.
As
a
child,
I
always
thought
it
was
special
because
it
started
with
the
letter
E,
which
was
not
a
common
letter
at
the
beginning
of
names.
As
I
grew
older,
I
learned
that
the
origin
of
my
name
is
from
the
Latin
word
"Aemilia,"
which
means
"rival"
or
"industrious."
I
always
thought
it
was
funny
that
my
name
meant
"rival,"
considering
I
am
not
a
very
competitive
person.
One
thing
that
I
have
always
appreciated
about
my
name
is
its
versatility.
It
can
be
spelled
so
many
different
ways,

When
people
ask
me
how
to
spell
my
name,
I
usually
reply
with
"the
normal
way,"
but
what
is
normal
when
it
comes
to
spelling
names?
I
have
seen
so
many
unique
and
creative
spellings
of
the
name
Emily,
and
I
love
how
each
one
tells
a
different
story
about
the
person
who
bears
it.
Growing
up,
I
always
knew
at
least
one
other
person
named
Emily
in
every
class
I
was
in.
It
was
a
popular
name
in
the
1990s,
and
I
remember
feeling
like
my
name
was
just
like
everyone
else's.
However,
as
I
got
older,
I
realized
that
even
though
we
shared
the
same
name,
we
were
all
very
different
people
with
our
own
stories
to
tell.
Now
that
I
am
an
adult,
I
appreciate
my
name
even
more.
It
has
become
so
much
a
part
of
my
identity
that
I
can't
imagine
being
called
anything
else.
It
represents
my
unique
qualities
and
the
person
that
I
have
become.
I
am
proud
to
be
an
Emily,
and
I
look
forward
to
seeing
how
the
name
continues
to
evolve
over
time.
